Overview |
 |
 |
| Targeted at enterprise and mid-size firms that are experiencing significant storage growth, the HP SAN Virtualization Services Platform (SVSP) helps customers improve efficiency, simplify operations and lower TCO.
With its innovative split-path architecture, the HP SVSP provides centrally managed storage pooling and virtual volume provisioning of HP and non-HP storage resources. It enables high scalability, top performance, and high availability of all SAN resources while also bringing substantial improvements to managing enterprise storage, reducing costs and improving asset utilization. The SVSP also offers a comprehensive set of data services including volume management, data migration, copy services (clones and snapshots), synchronous and asynchronous mirroring and thin provisioning.
Finally, with the SVSP Starter Kit, you can start experiencing the benefits of a virtualized storage infrastructure with an easier to adopt all-inclusive packaging.

Features and Benefits |
 |
 |
Simplified Management of Heterogeneous SAN Deployments
- Consolidate heterogeneous arrays into virtual pools to further simplify management of your SAN storage.
- Easily provision, grow and migrate volumes as needed by your business requirements and by the needs of the very mobile virtual machines.
- Easily provision the right type of storage to match the value of your data, and thus optimize storage costs.
- Centrally manage all your storage pools and data services driving higher efficiency, productivity and greater simplification.
- The HP Storage Essentials SRM product works seamlessly with the SVSP to deliver path aware management of the solution in the context of the applications and other virtual elements of a typical full IT deployment.
Lower Costs
- Consolidate storage platforms into virtual pools to reclaim unused and stranded capacity to improve utilization and lower capital expenses.
- Thin Provisioning allows an administrator the ability to provision “thin” volumes and grow them dynamically as needed by the application, significantly improving capacity utilization, and lowering near term capital expenses.
- Streamline operations by using a consistent set of data services across all types of storage arrays.
- Increase productivity with the SVSP extensive set of data services, including data migration, volume management, copy services (clones and snapshots) and mirroring (sync and async).
Performance And Scalability That Evolves With Your Needs
- Leading edge, innovated split-path architecture provides high availability and top performance for all your SAN resources.
- SVSP provides a very flexible architecture that allows you to scale up independently in multiple dimensions, as needed by your business requirements.
- SVSP modular architecture enables you to buy only what you need, and pay as you grow in order to optimize investments.
Reliable to Help You Decrease Business Risk
- Improve application recovery from failures through well integrated low-capacity snapshots and virtual disk group technologies.
- Extensive heterogeneous support matrix for OS's and arrays, both HP and non-HP, to reliably support all typical environments.
- Mitigate planned and unplanned downtime, and increase application availability with centralized heterogeneous local and remote mirroring solutions.
