Answers

General

Q1. I have heard people refer to buying an “empty” POD. What, exactly, is an empty POD?
A1. The POD, by default, includes everything which is necessary to support IT gear. This would be the container itself, power and chilled-water connections & distribution, heat exchangers and blower fans, system management panels (EPO, EPMS, Smoke Detection, etc), and the racks.
Q2. Is the POD UL or ETL Listed?
A2.
  • HP has partnered with INTERTEC/ETL as our primary Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) for our POD Solution
  • The HP POD is NRTL “LISTED” as an Information Technology product to: UL 60950 parts 1 and 22
  • The HP POD is NRTL “LISTED” as a NEMA TYPE 3R enclosure to: UL 50
  • The HP POD is NRTL “CLASSIFIED” to NEC 2005/2008
Q3. How are temperature, humidity, and moisture monitored within the POD?
A3. The POD uses hot- and cold-aisle temperature sensors and chilled water supply and return temperature sensors. Humidity sensors are included with the optional humidifier/dehumidifier, and leak detectors are included under the water mains and in the condensate drip pan overhead
Q4. Where can I find details of the serviceability and maintenance schedule for the POD?
A4. The site preparation and user guides contain much of this information. They can be provided by either the Business Development Manager or the Pre-Sales Engineer with whom you are working.

Deployment Management

Q1. What services are included with the POD when it's purchased?
A1.

  • 1-year warranty covering the POD structure and internal POD utilities - Next Business Day Response
  • Standard warranties are included with HP IT products purchased (HP standard warranty is at least 1 year)
