In order to take full advantage of the capabilities of HP Systems Insight Manager, install WBEM providers on your managed systems. Each hardware/operating system platform has its own set of providers. HP SIM uses the information returned by these providers to:
- Identify the operating system on the managed systems
- Associate the virtual or physical instances to their respective containers (complexes, vm manager, npar)
- Inventory and report on hardware and software configurations
- Monitor the system remotely for hardware faults
