Thanks to Double Layer technology the HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive delivers an unprecedented storage capacity of up to 8.5 GB – nearly twice that of previous generation drives. The drive writes to DVD+R at up to 16X, Double Layer DVD+R at up to 8X, DVD+RW at up to 8X, DVD-R at up to 16X, Double Layer DVD-R at up to 4X, DVD-RW at up to 6X, CD-R at up to 48X and CD-RW at up to 32X and reads from industry standard DVD-ROM media at up to 16X and CD-ROM media at up to 48X. These transfer rates, combined with extensive compatibility and conformance to worldwide DVD standards, make the HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive a highly efficient and cost-effective storage solution for corporate, education, government, and traditional entertainment and media customers.

Double Layer:
Designed for high capacity data backup and digital video applications, the HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive offers a complete solution for high quality video, audio, data archiving and interactive DVD applications playable on most set-top DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. The HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive can write up to 8.5 GB of data on Double Layer (DL) media (equivalent to 4 hours DVD-quality video) or up to 4.7 GB of data (single layer), equaling 12 fully-recorded CD-Rs in approximately 6 minutes. The HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive enhances a wide range of DVD applications including the authoring, editing and storing of video files, developing digital music catalogs, building image libraries and backing up data.

Dual Format:
The HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive is able to read and write to all '+' and '-' formats and utilizes the ATAPI interface to communicate data and digital audio with the host computer.

LightScribe:
This DVD+/-RW drive is now available with LightScribe; a revolutionary new technology which allows you to create professional looking laser-etched disc labels using the same laser that burns your data - right inside your DVD drive.
LightScribe technology is an integrated system that combines the HP PATA DVD+/-RW LightScribe Drive with specially coated discs* and enhanced disc-burning software to produce precise, laser-etched labels with gray-scale images similar to a black-and-white photograph. This amazing technology is the no-hassle way to create elegant labels for all your CDs and DVDs. Simply burn your data, then flip the disc and burn your own unique label. No ink, no messy markers or clumpy adhesive labels.

Double Layer discs can store more data than single layer discs. However, double-layer discs burned with this drive may not be compatible with many existing single-layer DVD drives and players. LightScribe creates a grayscale image similar to black and white photography. LightScribe media required and sold separately.
