Overview
Compaq’s Microsoft Exchange Backup/Restore Solution consists of a unique combination of innovative software and hardware that simplifies Microsoft Exchange storage management for Windows NT environments.

The products include the StorageWorks Virtual Replicator, a key deliverable in Compaq’s Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA), and as an option, Compaq Batch Scheduler. Detailed QuickSpecs for each of the above products can be found at Compaq’s corporate website at:

The combination of the above provides:

• Virtualization of disks recommended for this solution up to 400 GB (SWVR can go to TB)
• Snapshots of disks
• Unattended restore of the Microsoft Exchange Store

Lower total cost of ownership
The solution provides a time and cost-saving solution for the restore operation of Microsoft Exchange.

The optional Compaq Batch Scheduler can also schedule and track batch jobs on Multi-vendor platforms other than Compaq Intel. It can schedule jobs on HP-UX, Sun Solaris™, IBM AIX, SCO, Tru64™ Unix and OpenVMS for both VAX and Alpha.

Using this approach for restoring critical data has two key advantages:

1. Critical files/databases can be put back in production in much less time than restoring from tape.
2. This compliments existing backup operations.
