2002
» New HP AlphaServer systems offer industry leading performance and scalability for 1, 4, 8 and 32 way RISC systems.
  • The new AlphaServer ES45 1.25 GHz offers the industry's fastest SPECint and SPECfp benchmark performance. It offers the highest STREAM benchmark performance for any general RISC machine, second only to the Cray Y-MP.
  • The new AlphaServer ES45 1.25 GHz has posted the top TPC-C result for all midrange UNIX/RISC systems with the lowest $/tpm-c ever recorded for this class! Less than $10/tpm-c!
  • The new AlphaServer GS320 1.2GHz has posted industry leading SPEC and Linpack performance numbers again!

All these industry leading performance results indicate that hp is continuing to deliver on the AlphaServer promise!!

July » AlphaServer system tops rack performance
The new HP AlphaServer DS20L systems, rated at 132GF of peak performance in a single rack, have produced the highest sustained performance per rack (a rating of 724 per processor) for high-density servers as measured by the industry-standard SPECfp_2000 benchmark.

June » New SAP Benchmark record for AlphaServer ES45 system
Oracle announced that SAP has certified a series of Oracle9i RAC-based SAP Sales and Distribution (SAP SD) Parallel Standard Application benchmarks that set new scalability and throughput records on HP servers. Near linear scalability was achieved using SAP R/3, Release 4.6C and Oracle9i RAC running the parallel Sales and Distribution workload on a four-node clustered HP AlphaServer ES45 system using TruCluster Server software with 4 processors per system.

» HP Ranks "Best in Class" in Latest IDC High-performance Computing Benchmark
HP AlphaServer systems also scored three out of the top five spots in the technical Capability computers category. The HP LANL AlphaServer SC45 P-2, the HP PSC AlphaServer SC45 and the HP CEA DAM AlphaServer SC45 ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

May » The new HP AlphaServer DS20L systems
R rated at 132 gigaflops of peak performance in a single rack, they have produced the highest sustained performance per rack (a rating of 724 per processor) for high-density servers as measured by the industry-standard SPECfp2000 benchmark. The AlphaServer DS20L system also produced outstanding results in the SPECint2000, SPECfprate2000 and Linpack benchmarks.

» World's best price performance for a TPC-H 300 GB data warehousing benchmark running on any UNIX platform
The benchmark, with an average of 373 QphH@300GB per processor, also delivers 83 percent more performance per CPU than the current record in this category. The benchmark environment utilized Oracle9i Database Release 2 with Real Application Clusters on a four-node Hewlett-Packard AlphaServer ES45 cluster with a total of 16 processors running Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster Server software. The result shows 5,976.7 QphH@300GB, with a price performance of $452.29/QphH@300GB, available 6/01/2002.

» AlphaServer ES45 Sets Record for Number of Users per Processor in Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark
The AlphaServer system with four 64-bit 1GHz Alpha processors running Tru64 UNIX and Oracle9i Database Enterprise Edition for Tru64 Unix supported a total of 3,304 users with an average response time of 1.66 seconds in the Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark test, for an average of 826 users per processor. The AlphaServer ES45 system achieved nearly twice the users per CPU performance of an eight-processor Sun Microsystem V880 server.

February » AlphaServer ES45 Establishes New World Record for TPC-C Benchmark for Four-Processor Systems
An AlphaServer ES45 system running Oracle9i Enterprise Edition for Tru64 UNIX achieved a record-breaking TPC-C performance record for four-processor systems of 50,117tpmC and a new price/performance record for all UNIX systems of $15.24/tpmC, topping competing servers from Sun, Hewlett-Packard and IBM.
