The contents of the supported options list database were frozen in June of 2007.

The following link(s) represents supported option information which has been added or changed subsequent to June 2007.

November 2007: EH853A, EH854A and EH926A HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive now supported on AlphaServer DS10, DS15, DS15A, DS20E, DS25, ES40, ES45, ES47, ES80, GS80, GS160, GS320 and GS1280 with Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS.

The supported options list includes all options that have been successfully tested and qualified on the AlphaServer system. The list contains the option part number, description, restrictions (RST) and operating system support.

The entries in the RST column have the following meanings:

  • YES = restrictions exist and are available through the part number hot-link.
  • NO = restrictions do not exist.

The entries in the operating system columns have the following meanings:

  • YES = Supported by the operating system; no minimum operating system version required.
  • SPT = Indicates support for Linux. Use hyperlink for version details
  • N/S = Not currently supported by the operating system.
  • N/A = Not applicable.
  • CD = Configuration Dependent
  • Max = Indicates maximum number supported on each operating system. Differences by operating system are noted.
  • Version number = Supported by the operating system; minimum operating system version required for that support.
  • The operating system names are abbreviated as follows:
  • An asterisk beside the operating system version indicates cluster support.

The supported options list is not intended to include complete ordering information, configuration information, currently shipping revisions or recommended choices. Refer to the HP Systems and Options Catalog or QuickSpecs ordering menus for detailed ordering information.

Refer to the system Owner's Guide for an illustration of the PCI slot locations.

For external access to software patches go to HP Software Patch Access.

Please note that not all software patches are present in this directory as some may be affected by business or export agreements that do not allow their distribution at-large. Other patches listed in the Option Restrictions may have been superseded by more current versions.

For questions regarding patches contact the HP account manager or the Customer Support Center.

    • v7.3-1:

System Comments

recommendation:

Power all drawers off and on (using MBM command, or manually switching power breakers off and on) to prevent CPU map printing incorrectly when updating xsrom firmware (for MBM, CMM, PBM).

To insure correct system time, issue MBM "set time" command before booting operating system.

With multiple LP9002 FibreChannel adapters connected to a fabric:
Unplug inter-switch link cables from both switches until operating system is booted to prevent console experiencing long delays that may be mistaken as hangs, an infinite loop displaying the message "*** MBX not ready ***", or a breakpoint after the message "HERE iocbhdr:721aa0 iocb_rsp:695980".

Do not edit files on serial console window.

informational:

Multiple PCI-X adapters reduces speed. Refer to table in Release Notes: EK-G1280-RN. See most up-to-date revision.

Segments will revert to PCI mode if more than 2 PCI-X cards installed.

For SRM console v6.4-8, MBM Telnet server may echo characters incorrectly.

The following Telnet clients are recommended:
o Windows 2000 telnet from DOS prompt
o Powerterm (5.2)
o KEA (5.10)

May take several minutes (depending on size of configuration) to return to console prompt after exiting BIOS utilities.
